Joyce Westrop is a contemporary visual artist using bold form and expressive

line, currently examining the world through drawing, printmaking and mixed

media. 

Art is a journey, whether it is the quest for beauty, exploring emotions or

searching for meaning in the world. The artist’s role is to record this journey

asking questions.

My creations are an invitation for people to think about the world around them

and beliefs that our society has taken for granted. To do this, I ask the viewer

to interpret for themselves various elements of my work. Hopefully this can

lead to a broader questioning of the status quo.

At the University of Ottawa, I participated in various exhibitions and received

awards for creative achievement, graduating with a BFA (magna cum laude) in

2001. I have also taken classes at the Ottawa School of Art in Printmaking.
